These are certainly exciting times ...
I don't know if you are as excited about the iPad as I am but I think there are going to be some amazing opportunities and I wanted to let you know about a few things.
I have an iPhone programming class coming up next week. http://www.e-string.com/training There is an early bird price that ends soon so keep that in mind if you are interested or know someone who is. Also, there is a new advanced class on Saturday if you've already taken the 8-hour class or have some iPhone experience. Btw, if you've taken any of my classes in the past you are welcome to sit in on the same class anytime you like free of charge. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity to brush up on iPhone development or catch up on something you missed the first time. Also, the classes will not yet cover the iPad since it is under NDA but everything you learn about iPhone and iPod touch programming will be useful when working on the iPad.
I'll be speaking at the 360iDev conference in San Jose, April 11-14. Make sure to say hi if you are planning on going. 360iDev is an awesome iPhone developers conference. It is small enough to be intimate and large enough to draw an amazing set of speakers and attendees. I wholeheartedly suggest you attend if you are interested and can at all make it. There is more information including schedules and speakers on their website http://www.360idev.com/
I’m working on an resource management system that will let you easily manage, cache and expire resources in your iPhone and iPad applications. I believe this will be really useful for you to create your own in-app promotional material and other updateable content. For example, if you have one app and want to announce a second app to your users or want to update the “about” page or switch logos or use a new database this would be an easy way to do that. We'll be opening up the early access program soon so let me know if you are interested.
And finally, I’m also working on a highly interactive media reader. Think along the lines of interactive kids books, training materials, how-to manuals, portfolios, catalogs and magazine style publications. I believe this framework can be used to create single publication type applications as well as branded readers and publication channels. I’m targeting the iPad at first and hope to bring it to the iPhone and iPod later on. I'm shooting to have something ready shortly after the iPad (and store) launch so let me know if you have any ideas or are interested in publishing some content
I'm In NYC next week so let me know if you want to get together to discuss these or any other projects.
Thanks and take care.
